Dal fry.

All I can say is “Dal Fry The easiest recipe in this planet” It is cooked in almost every Indian House.
A few days back I had called one of my old friend who is more like a brother to me MR Aabid Khan on his birthday to wish him and he told me that when ever his wife serves him Dal fry, the first thought runs in his mind is the Dal fry I use to cook in chennai. Try this out as Its so simple to make yet so yummy that people will remember you for ever.

Serves: 2

So lets start making this magical recipe with these Ingredient:

1/2 cup pigeon peas (Toor Dal)
1/2 cup red lentils ( Split Masoor dal )
1/2 tea spoon red chilly powder
1/2 tea spoon coriander powder
1/2 tea spoon garam masala powder
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
2 cups water
salt to taste.

For Seasoning:
2 table spoon oil
1/2 of a tea spoon cumin seeds
1/2 of a tea spoon of mustard seeds
1 tea spoon of finely chopped green chilly
2 table spoon finely chopped onions
1 table spoon finely chopped garlic

coriander for garnishing

Method:

wash both the dal’s together and pressure cook it for 2 whistles along with red chilly powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder and chopped tomatoes. You will need 2 1/2-3 cups of water approximately and salt to taste.

Once the dal is cooked we will start to season it
In a pan heat the oil and season it with mustard and cumin seeds.
Once the seeds become to crackle add onion ginger and saute it for a while and then add chilly.

Add this to the Dal in the pressure cooker ** if u need some more water can add at this time** and then cook it for another whistle.

Garnish it with some chopped coriander leaves.
