Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken tikka masala is a very delicious chicken gravy. My husband took me to a near by restaurant and he ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. He offered me a bite and form that day I have turned form a vegetarian to a pure non-vegetarian. And today I will share my favorite recipe with you which my husband and I experimented together in our kitchen. Its yummy. If you love Indian food You will definitely love this one.

Serves: 4


For marination:

500 grams boneless chicken.

1cup curd

2 table spoon of ginger garlic paste

1 tea spoon of chilly paste

1/2 tea spoon of red chilly powder

1/2 tea spoon of coriander powder

1/2 tea soon of garam masala powder

1/2 tea spoon of chicken masala powder

1/2 tea spoon of turmeric powder

salt as per taste.

For the gravy:

3 table spoon oil

400 grams of Onion

5 to 6 garlic cloves

1 inch ginger roughly chopped

2 green chilies roughly chopped

4  tomatoes roughly chopped

1/2 tea spoon of red chilly powder

1/4th of a tea spoon of black pepper powder

salt as per taste.

2 table spoon cream

water 1-2 cups.



Marinate the chicken by mixing all the ingredient listed under marination. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

For the gravy:

Heat oil in a pan and then add onion fry till its golden brown.

Now add tomatoes, ginger, garlic, chillies, red chilly powder, black pepper powder and salt. Cook it till the tomatoes are soft and keep it aside to cool down.

Chicken tikka:

In a griller apply some oil and place it over the flame, once its hot grill the chicken pieces from both the sides for 2 to 3 minutes each*** don’t worry if its raw it will cook in the gravy**

Now blend the gravy in a blender once its cooled down. Transfer back in the pan and then add the chicken tikka and cook on low flame for a minute or two. Add water as per the consistency you need. Put the lid on and cook for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame or till its completely cooked.


Adjust the spices as per your taste.

Serve it hot with some roti or naan.
